April M. Hames, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, specializes in individual, couple, and family therapy. She has a Master’s degree in Music Therapy and her Doctoral degree in Medical Family Therapy. Dr. Hames primarily focuses on how medical and mental health issues impact individuals, couples, and families. However, she enjoys helping clients work through any circumstances they currently face.
Dr. Hames works with individuals ages 13 and older. Her specialties include chronic pain, mood disorders (depression, dysthymia), chronic pain, factitious disorders, somatoform disorders (somatization, hypochondriasis), and life transitions (grief, adjustment, spirituality, occupational, illness, relational). She enjoys collaborative relationships with medical providers regarding patient care.
When Dr. Hames is not seeing patients, she likes to paper craft, cook, work in her yard, ride her bicycle, and spend time with family. She is a member of Lexington Baptist Church and enjoys serving in their music ministry.
